Keysight, MediaTek Extend Collaboration to Accelerate Chipset Development and Testing of 5G NR Protocol Stacks

08/10/2018

Keysight Technologies, Inc., a leading technology company that helps enterprises, service providers, and governments accelerate innovation to connect and secure the world, announced that the company is extending its collaboration with MediaTek, Inc. to accelerate 5G New Radio (NR) chipset development and testing of 5G NR protocol stacks.

MediaTek will use Keysight’s 5G Protocol R&D Toolset for Layer 2 and Layer 3 protocol development, pre-silicon deployment, and full stack chipset validation across sub-6GHz and mmWave frequencies using the latest 3GPP Release 15 5G NR standards.

Keysight’s 5G Protocol R&D Toolset is part of Keysight’s suite of network emulation solutions, the only seamless radio frequency (RF) and protocol workflow approach that enables chipset and device makers to efficiently develop and test evolving 5G standards and latest 4G standards in a single solution. These solutions accelerate the delivery of new 5G NR products by leveraging common development tools to eliminate siloed data sets and share design insights gained across each stage of the device lifecycle.

“Keysight is excited to offer our industry leading 5G expertise and elevate our long-term collaboration with MediaTek in 5G wireless technologies to speed up deployment of 5G NR technologies and products to the market,” says Kailash Narayanan, vice president and general manager of Wireless Devices and Operators at Keysight Technologies. “Keysight’s network emulation solution portfolio offers the scalability and capabilities the mobile device ecosystem needs for early protocol stack development and chipset validation. We are pleased to engage with MediaTek on these leading 5G technologies.”
