Capabilities Address Manufacturing Test for Emerging Wi-Fi Technologies in Automotive and the Internet-of-Things

03/02/2015

Keysight Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: KEYS) announced new capabilities for the EXM wireless test set. The capabilities were added to address the latest technology evolutions in wireless communications with support for WLAN 802.11p, 802.11ah, 802.11ac Wave 2 Measurements, and Bluetooth® 4.2. The EXM now can make the measurements required to efficiently manufacture today's and tomorrow's Internet-of-Things wireless devices.

"EXM's broad multi-format capabilities encompass the latest WLAN and cellular formats," said Joe DePond, vice president and general manager of Keysight's Mobile Broadband Operation. "This helps device manufacturers meet the growing demand for wireless devices focused on the latest smart devices, including the Connected Car and the Internet of Things. With this latest release, we have demonstrated that the EXM gives manufacturers a platform that protects their investment and easily evolves with device manufacturers' changing needs."

Solving manufacturing test challenges means working closely with chipset vendors that create the RF engines that drive tomorrow's devices. Keysight consults with leading chipset vendors to ensure our customers get the capabilities they need to address more complex, multi- technology, chipsets and ensure they have the confidence they need to create a high throughput, high quality, manufacturing environment.

An example of Keysight's close working relationship with leading chipset developers is a recently signed Technology License Agreement with Autotalks Ltd, a fabless semiconductor company based in Israel who enables vehicle-to-vehicle (V2V) and vehicle-to-infrastructure (V2I) communication by providing automotive grade, standard-compliant comprehensive V2X VLSI solutions. This allows for the collaborative development of highly automated test software of Autotalks devices enabling reductions in test time and cost in manufacturing.

"Our collaboration with Keysight will allow our joint customers to effectively test V2X devices powered by Autotalks while improving coverage," said Leonid Menis, system engineering director of Autotalks. "Looking forward to V2X series production, such automated testing equipment will be necessary to reliably meet high manufacturing throughput."

The Keysight EXM is designed to help companies solve today's problems and evolve to meet tomorrow's manufacturing test challenges. For more information, visit us at Mobile World Congress, Hall 2, Booth 212, or on the Web at www.keysight.com/find/exm.
