Today, the digital multimeter has become indispensable for a wide range of professionals who have to deal with electricity in their professional activities and in everyday life or hobbies. An electrician, a radio amateur, an auto mechanic or just a home master — all need to have any electrical measurements. Which multimeter to choose, so that it does not fail at the wrong time, was easy to use, but at the same time not to overpay for an unnecessary set of functions? As usual on May 20 the World Metrology Day is celebrated! And the end of May was marked by the outstanding event in the metrology world connected with this great holiday — 13th Moscow International Innovative Forum «Precision measurements — the basis of quality and safety» which was held on May 17-19 this year. On April 25-27, 2017 in Crocus Expo exhibition center there were 2 anniversary exhibitions held: 15th International exhibition of technologies, equipment and materials for the electronic and electrical industries «ElectronTechExpo» and 20th International exhibition of electronic components, modules and systems «ExpoElectronica ». 10353 visitors from 40 countries attended the exhibitions which is the record number comparing to the previous years! Since 2013 we regularly publish reviews and articles dedicated to various measuring devices of RIGOL Technologies, Inc., one of the leaders in the measurement world. When developing relay and other devices for mechanical switching of electrical circuits it often becomes necessary to foresee the negative effect of transition processes during the mechanical switching — so-called «contact bounce». Often it becomes more complicated because of long pulse which may get up to 0.5 sec, several second process duration and inability to make research in the close proximity to the commuting equipment. In this case it is convenient to use a device that imitates a pulse sequence specific to «bounce». This task can be solved with AKTAKOM AHP-3616 pattern generator.

This year we had a chance to see lots of innovative products from the leaders of test and measurement area. This Spring Tektronix Inc., a leading worldwide provider of test, measurement and monitoring instrumentation, organized several meetings for special presentation of new products — AWG5200 series arbitrary waveform generator (AWG), TTR500 series vector network analyzer (VNA) and absolutely new mixed signal oscilloscope MSO 5 series. And our magazine was one of the first to see these new devices before they were officially announced.

In March 2017 there were two new devices officially announced by Rohde & Schwarz. In order to demonstrate new devices and provide as much detailed information as possible the company specialists had organized a special pressconference on February 20. 2016 and the beginning of 2017 was very productive period for Keysight Technologies. There were many innovative products released for that time and one more product was only planned to be officially announced in March. At the moment several application fields have new models in their products range: electric power supply, oscillography, module devices, signal analyzers, logic analyzers etc. To summarize the achieved results and demonstrate the new products Keysight specialists organized press-lunch on February 28 in the company office.

Semiconductor electrophysics of today can hardly be imagined without C-V characteristic measurement meaning the capacitance measurement as a function of the applied direct offset voltage. This very measurement allows quickly identifying the basic parameters of semiconductor and dielectric layers which direct measurement is considered a rather complicated process. For up-to-date smart home systems or automation in laboratories or offices it’s necessary to have compact multifunctional devices to process discrete signals. AKTAKOM ACE-1768 is one of such devices.
